The Spectacular Korean Ceramics Tour.

Back by popular demand, The Spectacular Korean Ceramics Tour is scheduled for August 29-September 11, 2024. Tour includes museums, historical sights and interests in Seoul and Icheon Ceramics Village, plus artist studio visits in Yeoju, Geochang and Ulsan.

Tour participants will also have the oportunity to show in a group exhibition, work hands-on with Naked Raku artist, Kim YoungSoo, cobalt painting or Wheels demo at NamYangDoYe in Icheon, throwing workshop at MoonDoBang in SuWon, and fire the Korean traditional Mangdenggi woodfire kiln with Shin YoungTaek in Geochang. (Some activities may change.)

Participants should plan on arriving in Seoul on August 28, 2024. Tour will start the morning of August 29th *(some flight have an arrival time of 4am).
Tour will end on the afternoon of September 11th, 2024 with a drop off at Seoul Station. Your departure flight will need to be arranged for the evening of the 11th, 5pm or later. If you decide to arrive or stay beyond the tour dates, you will need to arrange your own lodging.

  • Additional sights and studio visit to be announced.

  • All hands-on workshop is accessible for beginners.

  • All lodging is single-room occupancy, double occupancy and non-workshop participant discount is not available for this trip.

  • Meals will be Korean or Korean inspired. Vegan or all Vegetarian meals will be difficult to accommodate. Most dishes will have fish/seafood stock or meat based, substitutions are not available in most cases.

  • Tour cannot confirm nor guarantee wheelchair access, there will be many areas where walking and stairs are the only way to access artist studios and sights.

  • Late August and early September has been warm and humid with possible rain, packing light is recommended. Plus, you will have more room for shopping!

  • Registration limited to 18 and accepted on first come first served basis with a security deposit confirmation.

Detailed itinerary will be provided at close of registration in the first week of June . A mandatory orientation meeting will be scheduled mid-June and you will be contacted through the email address provided on your registration form.

  • Fees : TBA
    $900 Security Deposit, full refund until April 1, 2024.
    Final payment due by May 15, 2024

  • In the case of cancellation after May 15, 2024, Security Deposit will be forfeited. If/when your spot fills by July 15, 2024, the remainder of your fees will be returned.

  • If Waitlisted, you will be contacted by email when a spot opens. You will have 48 hours to respond with a Security Deposit to secure your spot.

  • A charge of $50 for returned checks or payments will be applied to your balance. Placement on tour will be void until Security Deposit is fully processed.

  • Fees include:
    - lodging (Check-in August 29 - check-out September 11, 2024)
    - museum admissions
    - workshop fees (Naked Raku, MoonDoBang, Woodfire)**
    - travel within South Korea and meals. Meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner (except alcoholic beverages).

  • Fees do not include:
    - airfare to and from South Korea
    - applicable tourist visa for South Korea
    - airport transfers to and from Seoul
    - toiletries/cosmetics, otc medications, alcoholic beverages, snacks and souvenirs, etc.
    - travel insurance (including but not limited to medical, lost luggage, flight cancellations, etc.)
